Will Bush Go After Ahmadinejad for His Denunciation of Liberal Educators?

It’s back to school in Iran, too. But Ahmadinejad is welcoming Iran’s students back with a challenge:

"Today, students should shout at the president and ask why liberal and secular university lecturers are present in the universities!"

SEEING THE FOREST For the Trees
has an interesting take on this, comparing the fundamentalist Iranian
regime with fundamentalist US Republicans. But I think Bush and Company are in
a bind. Are they actually going to defend the liberal and secular professors in Iran? Can’t wait to see that!

One sure way to wipe out freedom would be to stifle the voices of freedom in different levels of the culture: higher education, the judiciary, the press. And Ahmadinejad is going after higher education. Well, we’ve forgiven (or ignored) George W. for going after judges who don’t agree with him. And the George W. White House is famous for its silencing of the liberal and radical left media. But George and his cronies would never censor or try to corrupt higher education, would they? Not here in the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Well, we sort of know better than that. The capitalist theocracy is reaching as deep as they can into campus life. It’s no big secret. So, how’s Bush going to react to Ahmadinejad’s attack on freedom in higher education? If he attacks Ahmadinejad’s stance, does that mean he would defend the right of liberal secular speakers on US campuses? Would George W. Bush defend and support your campus in bringing, say, me to your campus? Me, the radical left wing transsexual polyamorous dyke sadomasochist? Hmmmmmmm….

Happy back to school month.
